Meefaw. What the hell is a meefaw? Well, due to an internal oath among the members of Meefaw Inc., such information can not be disclosed. However, the origins of Meefaw Inc. can be revealed.
Meefaw Inc. is a small film production company made up of several friends in Shreveport, La. The core members include: Bryan Wails, Jeremy Spring, Todd Knight, Ryan Slosson, Joey Wall, Chris Stice, Josh Hale, and the voice of Meefaw, Chris Benard. They make skits on the fly. None of the skits are scripted. When the members are on location for a skit, they normally have a general idea of the outline, but the dialogue and outcome are 100% improvisational.
To see the beginnings of Meefaw Inc., you actually have to look back to the mid 90′s when Todd Knight’s parents purchased a handheld mini-VHS camcorder. The camcorder was initially intended for filming Knight family happenings, but all that changed when the device fell into the hands of Josh Hale and Todd Knight. At first, the two teenagers, who have been friends since kindergarden, used it to film themselves playing sports and other outdoor activities. Then, an idea hit the boys that would alter their lives forever. What if they used the camcorder to film commercials? The first production ever dreamed up by the boys was a silly little commercial entitled Deez Nuts. The commercial has since been recorded over and no copy of it exists, thus little is remembered about it. However, the response the boys received from viewers of the skit inspired them to proceed with their film making.
In the winter of 2000, Todd Knight and Josh Hale put together a couple of skits that really got momentum going for their small time skit making careers. Korean Car Salesman and The Mr. Bean Skit ensued a huge response from everybody that viewed them. Shortly after the filming of these video classics, long time friend Chris Stice and newcomer Bryan Wails hopped on board. The teenagers called themselves “Deez Nuts Productions” and between 2000 and 2003 filmed other shorts such as the Scream parodies Screwed 1 and 2 and the first installment of the action packed 0069: Sercret Agent Extraordinaire series. These skits gained the boys a wide fanbase and that would motivate Josh Hale to take that next step.
After a brief hiatus from filming, Josh Hale decided that a change was needed in order to better the production quality of the skits. In May of 2004, Hale acquired a digital camcorder and an advanced video editing program. This program would allow for far superior editing and the addition of music, slow motion, and many other video and audio effects. Filming for what would be Meefaw Inc. Volume 1 started as soon as this new technology was attained. At this point, Jeremy Spring and Joey Wall joined the crew and the skits only got better. Combining Spring’s unbelievable ability to come up with great skit ideas and his awesome editing prowace with Wall’s precise depiction of a backstabbing houseburglar, Volume 1 oozed with hilarity.
However, the group was not called Meefaw Inc. during filming of Volume 1. While editing the last skit filmed for Volume 1 , The Wallace Lake Dam Massacre, Josh Hale decided he should name the group’s production company. After concluding that “Deez Nuts Productions” was completely unoriginal, Hale finally landed upon Meefaw Inc.
With the help of the incredible new crew, Meefaw Inc. was brought to a fantastic new height in Meefaw Inc. Volume 2. Now with the website up and running, the joining of Ryan Slosson, the re-joining of Brandon Symoniak, and a very promising Volume 3 just over the horizon, things are definitely looking up for Meefaw Inc.
